It takes its name from Liberty National Life Insurance Company, which developed it; the company's Statue of Liberty replica stood on top of its downtown Birmingham headquarters from 1958 and was moved to the Liberty Park entrance in 1989.

## The neighborhoods
- **Vestlake** — the established heart of the community; family neighborhoods around lakes, pools and swim clubs, minutes from both community schools. Vestlake Village is one sub-neighborhood.
- **Old Overton** — the gated section: estates around the Old Overton Club and its golf course (Tom Fazio and Jerry Pate, opened 1993). Liberty Park's highest-priced homes are here.
- **The Bray** — the newest part, planned as the town center: new-construction homes, condos, townhomes and apartments around a central lawn, with shops, restaurants and a hotel planned or under way.
